I recently broke up with my boyfriend and I feel like I might have considered him too perfect. I mean, I put him on a pedestal, you know? Understanding this statement is quite a challenge. I remember every meeting, every thing he said, and it seems like everything was perfect even though it wasn’t. Now I don’t know how to distinguish a person’s real qualities from my expectations. Have you ever had your heart broken by expectations? So, how’d you deal?

In fact, I was also in a case where I overly idealized my ex. So, I was the one who was making excuses for them, you know? Instead of accepting reality, I was living in a dream. Are you often having an idea of what you want and then worrying that it will not be as good as you expect? My bestie and one article on soulmatcher were my great helpers at that time. The thing to remember is that putting someone on a pedestal is a very common trap. I hope things go well for you moving forward, and that you’ll try to fix some of these mindsets, if you know what I mean. I think it’s good to take a little break. For me, it took a few months to learn how to trust someone in a new way, and finally, I had a positive experience. We’ve been together for five years now.
