Speakers/Headphones Switch not working with iMac

I just received my Speakers/Headphones Audio Switch but immediately ran into a problem plugging it into my 27″ iMac.

The cables are all correctly connected (green to computer, black to speakers, headphones in headphone jack), but I could get no sound.

I plugged the green cable into my iPhone to confirm that the switch actually works; I also used two different mini jack extenders to see if was simply a mechanical problem with the green plug.

When I plug the green cable into the iMac, the Sound control panel switches to show Headphones/Headphone port as the output, so I know that the computer detects the plug. The volume slider is all the way up and the Mute is unchecked.

I can’t figure out what else to do.

OK, never mind! It turns out that Pandora had dropped its connection with the internet and there was nothing being output from my computer.

It’s all good now. This switch looks and feels terrific!!

Just received my Speaker/Headphone switch and have spent the past 30 minutes trying to get it to work. It does not. I have tried every configuration possible and it does not function on my Dell Optiplex 760.

Any suggestions??
