    I just bought the

DEOK Digital Heating/Cooling Thermostat -50-110 °C Temperature Controller with Temp Sensor Probe 0.5 Meter Cable
    (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00HD7VNWWkeywords=temperature%20controller&qid=1458152572&ref_=sr_1_36&sr=8-36)
    ASIN B00HD7VNWW

from amazon for a small electronics project. I would like to regulate the temperature of a heater by switching it on or off when it becomes too hot or too cold.

Although the product describes itself as “Heating/Cooling” I cannot seem to use the heating function. Currently, if the temperature is below the set value the circuit remains broken and no current goes through the heater. When the temperature is above the set value, the relay is activated and current flows through the heater.

This means that the heater does not heat up to the set value and if it is above the set value it continues to be on and heats continuously getting hotter and hotter.

Clearly this is intended for cooling where activating the circuit will reduce the temperature, so it would be really helful if someone could inform me about the heating aspect of the controller.

    Hello Adair,
    Thank you for writing in.
This problem is related to the working mode you set.
You can try to set the working mode again.
Long press the SET button for about 5 seconds, when the screen display “PO” then press SET button again, when the screen displays “C”, you can use “+” or “-” button to chose the working mode. “H” is for heating mode and “C” is for cooling mode.
In cooling mode, when the measured value ≥ set value, the cooling relay will be connected and the cooler will be activated. When the measured value ≤ set value, the cooling relay will be disconnected and the cooler will be turned off.
In heating mode, when the measured value ≤ set value, the heating relay will be connected and the heater will be activated. When the measured value ≥ set value, the heating relay will be disconnected and the heater will be turned off.
    Hope this can help you.
    Best regards
