    Greetings,

I’ve just received a TPA3116D2 (Mono 100w, 24vDC unit) with the intent to try and use it as a backup amplifier for my pedal board. I was actually quite surprised how it sounds fresh out of the bag, can’t say that I prefer it over my tube amplifier but damn for the price and size, its a super good unit and might be used in future gigs.

Anyway, my question here is regarding the pots. I see they are dual gang 50k linear, with the volume having a switch included. Given I will only send one signal to the pedal, do I really need a dual gang for the volume knob? In other words, are the signal from the right and left RCA jacks each going to one side of the potentiometer? I need to reposition them to fit in a pedal enclosure so I might replace the pots while I’m at it.

Another question, there was no indication as in what was the current needed, I went with the assumption that Ohm’s law applied here and that 100w @ 24VDC would require 4.12A, is that correct?

Final question, the little white connector beside the barrel jack for the power is intended as a parallel connection to the power input, meaning I could plug something that runs at 24VDC to it, is that correct?

    Thanks in advance!

    Yann

    Hello Yannick,

There is only one volume knob. The other potentiometer is for bass frequency adjustment.  To use bass mode, please connect 1-3 jumper

And 2 pin white connector is  also power input port. You can only use one input port.

Input current should be enough to power your speaker. If  24v/ 4.12A can offer enough power, you can use that.

    Best regards.

    Greetings,

That’s what I calculated for the power consumption as well, so I went with a 24VDC/6A power supply.

Regarding the pots, I understand what they are doing, I’d like to understand how. I think that since its a RCA / Stereo input, each side of the dual gang potentiometer is reducing one of the two RCA inputs level. So if I were to only use one side of the RCA input (since my guitar signal is mono), I could replace the dual gang pot by a regular one and leave one side unplugged.

English ain’t my first language so sorry if its not clear.

    Best regards,

    Yann

    Hello Yannick,

No mater you use one of RCA inputs or both of them, you can only use one of potentiometer each time.

Please kindly notice there are jumpers.  When  1-3 jumper is connected,  it is under bass mode and then you can regulate basse potentiometer.

    Best regards.
