Volt amp meter display smoked

Hi, i bought DROK® Small Digital Amperemeter Voltmeter Multimeter 0.28″ DC 100V 10A Car Voltage Ampere Meter 2in1 with Built-in Shunt Red/Blue 2-color LED Display 12V 24V Motorcycle Battery Monitor,

To monitor 12v 35 amphour battery, i connected both black to neg, thin red to + for led display which came on and touched yellow to + terminal to test out and poof . Needless to say meter no longer measures just leds come on as zeros. Did i wire wrong or is meter amp limit (10) not enough. Thanks.

Hi, sorry for the delay. If the leds come on as zeros, display “0”, this should be wired incorrectly. if the gauge display “1”, it should be overrange, more than 10A, the measurement range of the gauge is 10A.
If you can please have the THIN black wire vacant, do not connect to anything, just connect the black wire to the battery’s negative lead and use the yellow wire as the (new) negative lead (wiring the meter in series).
