A short while after I received item, and having used it several times without incident, it suddenly began smoking so I immediately disconnected power. I looked at it, seemed ok, turned it back on and worked. Thought nothing of it, then just a couple days ago the screen became nearly impossible to read.

Ordered two, one had a broken display.
Setting the constant current limit can be funky and the value changes when your screw driver touches the potentiometer.
Once the current is dialed in ( the instructions are a little murky) these work great.

Actually came with basic instruction sheet whic is readable and accurate. Well made and easy to use

I'm not sure what I was expecting, but this is a neat gizmo. My 10 year old is currently into charging capacitors so he can do this experiment or that, but wanted a way to charge to rated voltage using just one power source ... and this is perfect.

I admit I was skeptical of this unit. But it works! I needed a way to charge 24volt batteries and this does it well.
