Very cool little item, easy to operate, wire, and does the job very well in my config

Purchased this to power some small 5V to 12V, low amp draw, test devices I have on my work bench. The converter works perfectly and is easy to adjust output voltage and current and holds set output values . Onboard display with large digits is easy to read. Post sale communication with seller has been excellent. I would purchase this product again.

I burned this thing up rather quickly when I accidentally allowed 7-10 amps flow through. I was under the impression that it had circuitry to LIMIT draw, but it does not. It burned up in about 3 seconds. A bit bummed, but that's all on me. I am looking to add a current-limiting circuit to this, or similar unit. I've found a few walk-thrus online that outline the mod.

Everything re the product, spec, quality and price is top notch.
But the use of it...trying to panel mount...vertical mount the unit, having access to the tactile push buttons is a problem. Because one tends to vary the voltage and current relatively often, the trim pots are cumbersome.
I'm buying another one to modify: 1) remove the tactile push buttons and connect to momentary normally open push buttons, 2) Remove the trim pot and replace with linear potentiometers...same resistance value. I do not need to trim in millivolt or millieamp...so fine tuned trim post are not needed
