Hello,
I have two questions regarding the Drok LTC1781 Boost and CC regulator I have purchased.
1) Do you have a more complete data-sheet available for this module? Information such as input-impedance would be very helpful.
2) Background: I will using this module to limit the discharge rate of a super capacitor (6.75 vmax, 210 F, internal-esr=0.012 ohm), then to charge a battery (8.4 v max-input, 1.2 A max-input); so Super-Cap, then LTC1781, then battery. Do you have any suggestions or concerns for doing this with the LTC1781.
Thanks you,
Tommy
Hello Thomas Wolf,
Thank you for writing in.
For step up regulator, there is no concept of input-impedance.
Here the PDF file is the datasheet of the product, please check it:
DATASHEET_090640
As your description of the background, do you want to use a super capacitor to charge for the battery?
For your application, this product can work for it.
But the super capacitor is mainly used for storing electricity so there is little electricity in it.
The super capacitor maybe not suitable to be the power supply in this application.
Hope this can help you.

Yes, you are correct. I will be using the super-capacitor bank to charge a battery.
For this particular application, frequent and consistent charging is available for the super-capacitor bank, so I will be taking advantage of the fast charge rate of the super-capacitor, then use your LTC1781 product to limit the discharge rate of the super-capacitor while boosting the voltage to 8.4 volts to charge the battery bank.So if I understand correctly, you believe that this product will work as a super-capacitor current discharge rate limiter? My fear was that the super-capacitor string (6.75 vmax, 210 F, esr= .012 ohm) would discharge too much current and destroy the LTC1781 since it allows a maximum of 10 amps at the input. Any thoughts you have would be appreciated.
Thank you.

For example, I would like to control the vottage and current via a microprocessor. I would modify your board (or at least try to) by removing those two potentiometers and controlling with a PWM (for example).
Is this something that would be doable?
Thanks,
Barry
