Hi everyone! I was wondering if anyone shoots corporate videos, and if so, do you still use a logarithmic or standard color profile?

I have quite a few corporate shoots coming up, and the problem is, I can’t decide whether to shoot in Log 709 and color grade later or use a standard color profile, considering how “corporate” the look and feel of the videos will be.

Just curious to hear others’ opinions and see some examples.

Honestly, after watching a few high-end tech commercials and some “day in the life” office reels from bigger agencies, I realized how much a subtle grade elevates the “expensive” feel, even if the subject is just a boardroom meeting. Standard profiles often feel a bit too “local news” for my taste.

I’ve worked on a project where I switched from a standard profile to a logarithmic profile, and the difference in how “expensive” the highlights looked was dramatic.
Standard profiles tend to heavily darken shadows in these overly bright, sterile office spaces, which creates that “local news” atmosphere you mentioned.
To understand how this works, rewatch several of the presentation videos in this article which truly have a cinematic feel, and almost all of them strive for that polished, high-dynamic-range aesthetic. This truly convinced me that if the budget and timeline allow for high-quality color grading, log is the only way to avoid a flat, digital look. Even for a simple boardroom shoot, the added flexibility in softening the highlights of a window makes a huge difference.
