So I am testing my my new Drok  180078/180080 using an old laptop AC adapter (I cut the plug and screwed the loose wires into the terminal), and while the voltage is very good, the amps won’t go beyond 0.02. I connected a pair of 26 AWG wires to the output terminal and connected the loose ends to alligator clips and my multimeter on the other end. I am still very new at using a multimeter and I am relying only on the output on the display for my buck converter. Why won’t the current go any higher?

I’m very much a noob when it comes to electronics. I really need some advice. Also what is the max current that can be carried by 26 AWG wires. All the charts I find only start at 14.

    Hello Sam,

Without load, there is no output current. And  converter can’t increase current, what it do is to set a limit on output current.

Assume load draws 2A, you can limit output current to 1A or lower , but it is impossible to  increase load current to over 2A.

    Best regards,

    DROK
