I need a voltage regulator for a 12V – 100Watt Solar Panel,  the max power at peak, can generate 17V,  the application is to drive a 12V – 80Watt DC Fan (attic fan).  I read that I can use a DROK to limit the 17V peak and provide 12V – 80Watts output ~4.7Amps.   I purchased this model on Amazon, is this the correct unit?

    Hello Randy Wong,

Is it this item? #2001711007, https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078Q1624B/ref=as_li_tl?tag=proeng-20

You can step down voltage from 17v to 12v. But please kindy notice input voltage must be at least 0.8v higher than output.

And regarding current adjustment, it can only set a limit on output current. Actual output current is mainly decided by load. For example, preset value is 4.7 A. If load intend to draw 5A, it will limit current at 4.7A.

However, if load request 2A, actual output is just 2A.

    Best regards,

    DROK
