I cannot use the shunt on the negative side. Is there any other option?
    I can’t separate the grounds.

    Hello Ken Sowards,
    Thanks for writing in.
Would you please tell us what the problem is?
In order not to damage the meter, DC power – should go through the shunt to connect the meter -.
    Best regards.

    Hello Ken Sowards,
If you connect the shunt on the positive terminal, the meter”-” will be connect directly to the power supply”-“. Is it right? In that case, it is likely to burn the meter.
    Bet regards.

Yes the shunt would be in line on positive cable

    Hello Ken Sowards,
As what we said previously, we are sorry the shunt can’t be hooked to the positive terminal. That will cause that the meter”-” is connected directly to the power supply”-“. Meter may be burned.
Or did you have different idea? would you please share us how do you going to hooked it up? It would be appreciated if you can draw a simple diagram.
    Best regards.

    Ken,

You have no alternative but to use the negative side, but you can do it.

You can attached one end of the shunt to the battery’s negative terminal, and then collect (consolidate) all the negative lines to the other end of the shunt.

    Use this to attach the shunt to your negative battery postz;

Then simply use the supplied bolt on the other end of the shunt to attached  your ground wires.

I had to do it on my RV.

    Cheers,

    John
