I realize this unit has a 100 Amp maximum rating, but since the hall effect sensor doesn’t carry the actual current flow (the user supplied wire does), I need to know what will happen if the current flow is above 100 Amps.  In my application, there will be up to 175 Amps flowing through my wire the sensor is monitoring.  This should result in a higher voltage from the sensor, but still a very small voltage to the meter head.  Will the meter indicate 175 Amp in this case?  Will energy calculations work with this higher amperage?

    Hello Todd,
This item can only measure 0-100A current. If you input 175A, it will burn.
    Best rgards.

I would like to request that you please check with engineering.  There is no shunt carrying the current to overload/burn, this is the hall effect sensor model that the user supplied wire carries the high current.  The hall effect sensor should NOT burn with a higher current flowing through it.  Thanks in advance for getting a more detailed answer.

    Hello Todd,
What we mention is the meter instead of hall effect sensor.
    Best regard.
